The Modern Chinese Coin Invitational Event of the year is taking place this week in Hong Kong.  It is a coin show, combined with an exhibit of tremendously rare coins along with educational sessions.  This same concept produced tremendous results last December for everyone who attended; collectors, investors, dealers and consignors.   

There was so much praise from those who attended last year, so the model from last year has been duplicated and improved for this year.  Last year there was a tremendous amount of people, more than anyone could have expected.  The lines were long as people had to wait.  Since the goal is to make everyone relaxed, provide an educational experience and facilitate buying and selling - having plenty of room is essential.  This is how the Invitational concept was born.  You have to be invited.  This is so everyone who attends is pre-qualified and known.  This is a boutique type of event that allows the "who's who" of numismatics to attend in a comfortable atmosphere conducive to conducting business. 

The dealers who set up on Friday, December 2nd and Saturday, December 3rd, will have many great coins available in addition to viewing the coins on exhibit.  All of this is in addition to the Modern Chinese coin auction being held on Sunday, December 4th.  This auction has a wide variety of coins for everyone.  I like that the amount of Modern Chinese coins being auctioned is limited to less than 350 pieces.  I think offering more coins than the market can absorb is not favorable for collectors, investors, dealers and consignors.  No one wants to see values deteriorate due to the auction company not taking all variables into consideration.
