As I mentioned in a previous blog, I am a subscriber of Panda Pricepedia.  This is a monthly newsletter by Peter Anthony.  His articles seem to be mostly about Pandas.  Towards the end of the newsletter are guidelines for prices for many different Modern Chinese coins.  There are so many variables when pricing is involved.  This is a great resource to be used along with other information available from websites, dealers, etc...  The more information you have, the better decisions you can make. 

In the June/July issue of Panda Pricepedia, Peter and I have fun discussing which coins we would recommend if a person wanted to purchase $50,000 worth of Modern Chinese coins.  As you can imagine, our lists were very different.  In my opinion, this is good because it allows the reader to get different views and ask questions about why we each selected the coins on our lists.  Stimulating the thought process is good.  I have to admit, I strugged with this task.  I must have changed my list at least 10X.  There is a reason why I chose each coin.  Get the next issue of Panda Pricepedia and read why we each chose the coins we did. 

One thought we should have given consideration is the level of collector these coins were being purchased.  This could have changed each of our lists.  When I listen to people, I can evaluate the coins they are seeking.  Then I can make recommendations based on the information given to me.  To recommend coins "blind" was a tough task.  Fun - but tough.
