The American Numismatic Association's largest coin show in the US is taking place in the Windy City this week.  Come vist us at the Donald Stevenson Convention Center in Rosemont, IL August 16-20 to see the largest display of authenticated, rare Modern Chinese Coins ever shown at one time.  We will be in booths 1317, 1319, 1418 and 1420.  These are all combined into one monster space so you will be able to easily see each coin and ask questions.  You will see many coins with worldwide mintages of less than 99 pieces!

Coins with mintages of 99 pieces or less have gone crazy in value over the last several years.  We believe the 12 oz Gold coins with similar mintages are well under value.  The same holds true for the coins even larger.  Gold Kilos are some of our favorite coins.  These low mintage pieces are approaching the $1,000,000 level.  Why shouldn't they?  The mintages are 25 and less, while the actual survival rate could be much lower. 

The China Mint was so smart to limit their mintages and create these coin programs that tell a story about the history and culture of the Chinese people.  In essence, these coins mean much more than having a coin with a low mintage, it is a sense of pride about the history and culture of one of the oldest civilizations present today.   

Along with the Modern Chinese coins being displayed will be a special showing of many of the top 100 US error coins listed from the book in which we were a co-author, The 100 Greatest US Error Coins.  This is the first time the three recognized Mules will be shown at the same time along with other great rarities.  Two of these Mules are unique.  A Mule is a coin struck with two dies not intended to be used together.

Error coins by definition are rare compared to the normal coins struck.  You will be amazed at some of the error coins on display.  You will continually ask yourself, "how could that happen."  You will see the latest acquisition to our collection.  We made front page headlines in Coin World for purchasing a Sac/Quarter Mule that has not been on the market for about 10 years.
