I get told all the time how everyone loves to see the rarities we display.  These are real coins and real sets that we own.  They are not for sale.  They are part of my private collection.  I enjoy purchasing rare coins that I want to own.  While some people enjoy seeing these rarities, others want to know the price and others want to purchase.  I do not want to sell these coins, so I have the program written so I can display without having to list at crazy prices to protect the coin from selling.  The program is written to say " Not For Sale."  I want to explain this because I get asked this question every day. 

Our "Not For Sale" coins are very important to us.  These are coins we sell only when we have duplicates.  It has to make every collector and investor feel good to know that we not only buy and sell Modern Chinese coins, but we are also a collector and investor of these coins as well.  This is not common for a dealer to have their own collection.  Normally, everything is for sale.  This means we are believers in the long-term outlook for these coins we buy and sell.  We also have respect and appreciation for these rarities that might be a commodity to someone else.  We help support and make the market in Modern Chinese coins.  I am not going to get into the significance of these coins at this point.  I will save this for a future blog.  The only point I have to elaborate is since we have a collection, we pay higher prices than others because we want to own as a collector and not necessarily for sale.  Therefore, we can pay a higher prices.  Many people have to purchase and sell immediatley.  They have to worry about the prices they pay because they are looking to sell these right away.  This is not how we operate.  Because we are not looking for the quick sale, this gives us tremendous buying leverage over everyone else.  Because we pay very high prices, also allows us to purchase many great coins others have to pass on because the price we are willing to pay is deemed too high by other buyers.  We don't care.  We are happy to pay above market to get great coins.           

We sell a lot of coins because most people send us their want lists or emails with coins they would like to purchase.  Just because we do not show a coin for sale does not mean it is not in our inventory.  Since so many people call and email us, we do not take the time to list every coin as we did when we were first getting started.  We have accumulated a huge inventory of coins.  Anyone who has seen us at shows knows this.
