The Panda has been in hibernation for the last few years.  While most non-Panda coins have experienced sharp price increases during this time period, the Panda has lagged way behind.  The Panda has finally awaken!!!

In the past few months, prices for low mintage Pandas have started to move nicely.  It was only a matter of time until the Panda would be pushed up by the high price of the non-Panda coins.  The price gap became too large for everyone to ignore coupled with the lack of supply of rare non-Panda coins.  The next best alternative for collectors and investors are the low mintage Pandas. 

Panda Gold proof sets from the 1990's have really increased along with the 1995 Proof Gold Panda.  Select low mintage Mint State date sets, like 1982 and 1998 have really taken off.  Platinum Pandas are still available but not nearly in the quantities as in the past.  Early Silver proof Pandas have continued to increase.  Almost all the rare Pandas are being taken off the market and are now in the hands of collectors and investors.

Why the Panda?  The Panda is one of the most recognized world collected coins.  It does not matter if you are in the US, Canada, Europe, Asia, etc... Everyone loves the Panda.  Keep an eye on these select low mintage Panda coins.  They should continue to climb and narrow the price gap compared to their non-Panda counterparts.
