As far as Modern Chinese coins are concerned, Pandas have been hot and continue to bring strong prices.  These are not necessarily true low mintage coins, however, the Panda is in great demand.  There are many collectors and investors.  Everyone loves the Panda, so there are so many people concentrating on Pandas and their varieties.  It does not matter if these are Panda date sets, Panda Proof coins, Silver or Gold, etc....  1 oz, 5 oz, 12 oz, Kilo Pandas have all been steadily increasing. 

If you can purchase nice looking Pandas, buy them.  The price of Pandas are being driven up by the amount of people competing to purchase these Modern Chinese coins.  Competition is good for the market.  My favorite Pandas are the 1995 and 1996 Proof Gold Pandas, then many of the more rare date sets of MS Gold Pandas and, of course, I love the Proof Gold sets, especially the 1991, 1992, 1993 and 1994.  It does not seem like you can go wrong with any of the larger Silver or Gold Panda coins.  All of these have been trending upward for the last eight months.
