The Gold Panda series started in 1982. These are interesting coins because they are not only low mintage but also do not show the denomination. These coins were originally issued in a four piece set 1oz - 1/2oz - 1/4oz - 1/10oz. Starting in 1983, these sets contained five coins. A 1/20 oz coin was added. These lower denomination coins proved to be quite popular. Besides saving or giving as gifts, it is common to see these used in jewlery.
